In this client-based project, I helped the EMU college newspaper, “The Eastern Echo,” produce merchandise they could hand out to get people interested in joining staff. I created this design for a shirt that included an inkwell and quill symbol. This of course represented writing, but the use of this old style writing utensil was also a way of incorporating the idea that the Echo has been around for 135 years. The eagle character was incorporated because that is the mascot at EMU. The shirts were screen printed, so they were all one color for cheaper production on green shirts, which was our school color. The vector symbols on the back represented the different assets all staff members brought to “The Eastern Echo.”
